The Garage

“But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:14

My garage reminds me of this passage. First of all I must explain the process of leaving and returning to my house. You have to find the correct key to the garage out of 27 keys, yes I said 27, side note – every door in my house, including bed room and bath room doors have a different key. Ok, so where was I – oh yes, once you find the key to the garage you have to unlock and slide the garage door open – this has become Taylor’s job. Then when you are out of the garage the door must be slid back into place. This must take place on returning as well. Once the door is open it takes the driver and 2 navigators to get the car out of the garage. It is so narrow that if it you don’t pull out or in just right you will take off the side mirrors of the car. It it much worse than driving anywhere in Guate and it is the part of my day that I dread the most. Bobby comes out every morning when we leave for school and helps me get out, I still can’t get it right. I always want to turn the wheel the wrong way and have come close to disaster many times. This morning I told Taylor that we were going to get a car with only one side – I will sit in the front and she can sit in the back directly behind me and then we will have no problem – I mean the smart car is looking pretty good right now…

As I was praying this morning, God brought to my attention the verse about the narrow gate – many want to go through, but only a few will. We as Christians must be the navigators to those who are fearful of the narrow way. It is hard and the path is not always smooth and sometimes we just want to park on the street and forget the whole thing, but in the end this is the best way. This way leads to refuge and shelter from the rain, it leads to heaven!

Lord, make us all navigators to those who need You!!

Mom, I love this. That illustration perfectly fits that verse, and it makes me smile to remember always trying to figure out how to get in the house.
